Nacho Álvarez holds a PhD in Economics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, is a professor in the Department of Economic Structure at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and an associate researcher at the Complutense Institute of International Studies (ICEI).

Co-author of several recently published books, including Fractures and Crises in Europe, What we do with unemployment, Political Economy of the Crisis and What we do with debt.

He has held academic stays at the universities of Vestfold (Norway, 2014), Lisbon School of Economics and Management (Portugal, 2014), and Paris VII-Denis Diderot (France, 2005). He is currently responsible for Economics at the “Citizen’s Council” of Podemos.
