Pavlina Tcherneva is a Director and Associate Professor of the Programme of Economics at Bard College and associate researcher since 2007 at the Levy Institute of Bard College. Previously she taught at the Franklin & Marshall College of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she obtained her PhD in Economics and was her Associate Director of Economic Analysis at the Centre of Full Employment and Price Stability. Also, in the summer of 2006 she was a visiting professor of the Centre for Economic and Public Policy at Cambridge University.

Tcherneva’s conducts research in the fields of Modern Monetary Theory and Public Policy and she has act as advisor to policymakers of Argentina, Bulgaria, China, Turkey and the United States in the development and evaluation of several job creation programs. Her current research examines the link between monetary and fiscal policies under different sovereign monetary regimes and the macroeconomic results of the alternative stabilization programs. She has also examined the role, nature and relative efficacy of alternative monetary policies of the Federal Reserve and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of the United States during the Great Recession. Her work has been published in the Review of Social Economy, Journal of Post Keynesian Economics, International Journal of Political Economy, and Rutgers Journal of Law and Urban Policy, among other journals.
